U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9), who represents Schuylkill County in Congress, has announced the opening of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, inviting high school students from the 9th District to submit their artwork for a chance to be displayed at the U.S. Capitol.
The annual Artistic Discovery Contest, sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives, provides a platform for high school artists nationwide. Students in grades 9-12 within the 9th Congressional District are eligible to submit two-dimensional artwork by the deadline of April 18, 2025.
Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photographs.
Artwork must adhere to size and weight restrictions: no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, and no more than 15 pounds when framed. All entries must be original and comply with U.S. copyright laws.
Submissions can be delivered to any of Meuser’s district offices located in Pottsville, Hamburg, Lebanon, Bloomsburg, Williamsport, and Tunkhannock. A Participant Reception will be held on April 24, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the Walk In Art Center in Schuylkill Haven.
The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and featured on House.gov’s Congressional Art Competition page.
Students can find the Student Release Form and additional rules and regulations online. For further inquiries, contact Madison Colaco at (717) 603-1459 or Nicholas Mason at (570) 871-6370.
