National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County.
The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 4 p.m. Wednesday and expires at 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.
Snow and ice is in the forecast once again, though not much of either. Based on the latest forecast from NWS, approximately 1 inch of snow and sleet will accumulate in addition to up to 0.15 inches of ice. The highest ice accumulation will occur on ridgetops.
This wintry weather will likely cause slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions. The Wednesday evening commute will likely be affected.
According to the forecast for Pottsville, snow and freezing rain are expected Wednesday between 4-5 p.m. followed by snow, freezing rain, and sleet after 5 p.m. Wind gusts up to 20 mph are expected, too.
Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected to persist through 1 a.m. Thursday, followed by rain and freezing rain until about 4 a.m. As temps rise above freezing on Thursday, precip will change to plain rain and taper off. Wind gusts to 26 mph will continue through Thursday.
More wintry precip – a mix of snow and rain – is likely over the weekend.
