A Schuylkill County was jailed after an incident in which he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman in an argument over a parking spot.
According to court documents filed by State Police-Frackville, the incident happened on the night of Jan. 16 at W. Centre St. in Mahanoy Township. They received a call from a woman who said she heard two men talking outside her home about a vehicle parked in their spot.
The woman told police that she opened thei door and told them that it was her vehicle that was parked in the spot. That’s when the men, identified as Jose Peguero and his son, Jeffrey, approached her home and they began arguing.
During the argument, the woman said Jose Peguero, 61, of Mahanoy City, pulled out a black, semi-automatic pistol with a silver tip from his pocket and pointed it at her. Peguero then yelled at the woman and left, but just temporarily, she said.
Peguero reportedly came back and this time he racked the slide of the pistol as if he was loading a round in the chamber and pointed the gun at the woman again. As he did this, the woman said her mother, father, and daughter were all standing behind her.
The woman told her family to get back and go somewhere safe as she slammed the door to her home on Peguero.
Peguero was arrested and arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer, who remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $25,000 bail. Bail was posted on Monday.
A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker on Jan. 30. Peguero will have to answer to charges of simple assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, and a count of possession of an instrument of crime, all misdemeanors.
