A Schuylkill County woman has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a man in the hand with a piece of broken mirror.
According to court documents filed by Mahanoy City Police, on Jan. 10, Crystal Hernandez, 32, said she had stabbed her victim in the hand with a broken piece of glass in self-defense.
However, the man she attacked told police that Hernandez had “tweaked out” and began throwing things, hitting him, and scratching him. One of those things thrown was a mirror that he said Hernandez tossed while he was walking away from her. While walking away, he said Hernandez grabbed a piece of the glass and stabbed him in the hand.
The victim’s two sons, according to police, said that they had witnessed Hernandez smash a mirror and stab their father as he was walking away from her.
Hernadez was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli on Jan. 10 and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $15,000 bail. Bail was posted on Jan. 16. At a preliminary hearing before Judge Anthony Kilker on Jan. 30, Hernandez will have to answer to a felony charge of aggravated assault.
