Great Pottsville Car Show Going On as Scheduled
Organizers of the Great Pottsville Car Show say the event is going on as scheduled, especially since the weather forecast for Saturday is showing clear skies in the wake of Tropical Rainstorm Debby.
The Dukes and Boss Hogg’s cousin will appear alongside a replica of the famous General Lee, probably the most famous character from the hit TV show. They’ll be signing autographs and be available for photos as well.
The General Lee that will be making an appearance on Saturday is actually owned by Jeff Bowers, the Minersville Police Chief, who is a huge fan of the TV show.
Trophies at the Car Show will be awarded in the following categories: Best Appearing Mopar, Best Appearing Ford, Best Appearing Chevy/GMC, Best Appearing Foreign, Best Appearing Truck, Best Appearing Motorcycle/Side-by-Side, and Best of Show.
Four special judges awards and cash prizes ranging from $50 to $100 will also be given out. Registration for this year’s Car Show is $25 and begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Pre-registration for the event can be found at the Car Show’s Facebook page.
The Bob Bowers Memorial Trophy, named in honor of Bowers’ father, will be awarded to the Best Corvette appearing at the Great Pottsville Car Show.
Food vendors and live music by Solid Gold will provide guests with something to eat and a little entertainment for guests at the Car Show on Saturday.
T-shirts commemorating this year’s Car Show will also be available for purchase. Proceeds from the show benefit the Humane Fire Co.
