The newest member of the Philadelphia 76ers, a guy who hasn’t even played with the team for a single minute yet, won the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend in Utah.
Mac McClung put up nearly perfect scores on his way to the title.
The Sixers signed McClung to a two-way contract earlier this week. He’d been putting up sensational stats with the team’s G-League affiliate, Delaware Blue Coats, this season.
McClung is the first member of the 76ers to ever win the Slam Dunk Contest. No, Dr. J never won it as a member of the Sixers. He did win the first-ever dunk contest, but it was as a member of the New York Nets and when he played in the ABA.
Perhaps he can provide a bit of spark to the Sixers down the stretch of the regular season after the All-Star Game.
