A Schuylkill County man faces an array of charges following an incident earlier this week in Mahanoy City.
Back on Tuesday, police there say a Mahanoy City borough worker spotted two people engaged in a physical confrontation inside a moving vehicle on Centre St.
Eventually, police caught up to the fighting duo on 8th St. As they approached, they spotted the man inside, 46-year-old John J. Weikel, push a woman out of the vehicle, onto the shoulder of the road.
Police say the woman, a 21-year-old, suffered some minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Weikel was arrested by Mahanoy City PD and arraigned before District Judge Anthony Kilker. He’s facing misdemeanor charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment and summary offenses of harassment and driving with a suspended license.
Kilker sent Weikel to Schuylkill County Prison. He posted $25,000 bond the next day and was released. He’s due back in court on May 6 for a preliminary hearing.
