A Pine Grove man is in Schuylkill County Prison today after police say a fight with his grandmother over the weekend resulted in her death.
According to information provided by State Police in Schuylkill Haven, 32-year-old Kalvin Clark was taken into custody on Sunday after first responders arrived at the home of a 73-year-old woman on Tulpehocken St. in Pine Grove.
EMS at the scene found the woman dead on the second floor of the home and called police.
According to a report from WBRE-TV, the woman is identified as Sharon Zimmerman, Clark’s grandmother.
Police believe Zimmerman and Clark got into a “physical altercation”. A short time later, Zimmerman died.
WBRE-TV reports that Clark allegedly fought with Zimmerman on Saturday after which she fell down a flight of stairs. Clark then brought her to a bathroom on the second floor to “wash her up” early Sunday.
Lt. Scott Brennan, of Pennsylvania State Police, told WBRE-TV that there is a “recent history” between Zimmerman and Clark with problems dating back to Dec. 27, 2020.
Police say Clark was arraigned before District Judge Anthony Kilker Monday and sent to Schuylkill County Prison on $250,000 bail.
The investigation into this weekend’s events continues. For now, Clark faces an aggravated assault charge, pending the results of that investigation and an autopsy from the Schuylkill County Coroner.
