Herv Breault Adds to GOP Choices for State House 125th

It’s raining GOP candidates for state House of Representatives in the 125th District.

The Canary learned this morning that retired combat veteran Herv Breault, of South Manheim Township, announced his bid to seek the Republican nomination for state House of Representatives in the 125th District.

The 125th covers part of Pottsville and much of southern and western Schuylkill County.

Breault joins current Schuylkill County row officers Christy Joy, the Controller, and Theresa Santai-Gaffney, the Register of Wills, on the GOP ticket for the Primary on April 28.

No Democrats have joined the race just yet.

Everyone’s running for the seat being vacated by current State Rep. Mike Tobash, a Republican, who is retiring at the end of 2020.

Breault, 53, is a combat veteran. He retired after 25 years of service. Breault served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, jumpmaster, and artillery gun chief. He then served and retired as part of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Active Guard Reserve. In 2009, Breault was awarded the Pennsylvania Distinguished Service Medal.

In a statement announcing his candidacy, Breault says, “In 1985 I swore an oath to support and defend the US Constitution. In 1994 I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of Pennsylvania. We need strength and resolve to combat those trying to control our lives and the way we think or express ourselves. Government is too big and intrusive, not what the Founders envisioned.”

Breault says he’s not a typical politician.

“I relate to the everyday Joe and Jane,” he says. “The 125th District needs a Representative who can relate to them and serve their needs. Mine will be a deep grassroots effort. My wife and I moved to her home state of Pennsylvania in 1994 and I fell in love with the Commonwealth. There is nowhere more America than right here. It’s time for me to answer the call to serve once again.”

Currently, Breault works part-time in an auto parts store but is also partner in a Philly Pretzel Factory franchise.

Breault is a proponent of Amendment 2A of the US Constitution and Article 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, which technically grants more gun rights than our nation’s most sacred document.

“Article 21 states: The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned. Sportsmen and sportswomen and gun owners won’t find a stronger voice on their behalf,” he says.

Breault also says that the 125th District should become an example of what good vocational education can do.

“We must champion high school trade schools for students who want to work on cars, construction and the noble trades. Let’s make the 125th District the example for the rest of the Commonwealth,” he adds in his statement.
