Jason Morgan Backstory
Jason Morgan is easily one of the most cliched soap opera characters of all soaps. He’s been written off, killed off, returned several times to Port Charles (the setting for General Hospital), and played by several different people.
Burton first started playing Jason in 1991. When Burton took on the role of Jason, writers rapidly aged the character to fit Burton.
Jason was raised a Quartermaine, one of the main families around which General Hospital is based. He had dreams of becoming a doctor before a massive head injury caused him to lose most of his memory.
Eventually, Jason would link up with Sonny Corinthos, Port Charles’ leading “coffee trader” and definitely not a mobster. Jason acted as Sonny’s henchman in case any of his clients were late on their “coffee” bill.
Morgan left General Hospital a few times and his character was played by a few other actors. His most recent absence happened from 2012-2017 when Morgan left to play Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless.
Later that year, however, Burton was back playing Jason Morgan … eventually.
He first returned to Port Charles as Patient 6 before it was revealed he was the “real Jason”.
Burton has also played Jason Morgan on the 2007 GH spinoff, General Hospital: Night Shift.
