The new murder trial date in the death of Pottsville businessman Patrick Murphy is January 7, 2020.
According to court records from Orleans Parish, on Tuesday, a judge agreed to a joint continuance motion filed by the prosecution and defense to delay the start of Magen Hall’s murder trial to early next year.
Hall, the woman accused of stabbing Murphy to death in February, appeared in court Tuesday with her team of defense attorneys (Marcus Delarge and Greg Carter). Assistant District Attorney Sarah Dawkins again represented Louisiana at Tuesday’s hearing.
If she’s convicted on the most serious charge of second-degree murder, Hall faces a mandatory life sentence. She’s also facing charges of armed robbery and obstruction of justice.
