Everyone is Talking About the New Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter Beer
- Two iconic Pennsylvania brands team up this week to announce the new Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter beer.
This represents the latest specialty limited edition product from Yuengling Brewery. And Tuesday’s announcement represents a milestone for the Pottsville company.
New Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter Beer
Yuengling Brewery and Hershey’s are releasing a co-branded porter beer this Fall. Yuengling says the new Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter beer will only be available on tap in select locations.
And you can only expect to find this limited edition beer until around Valentine’s Day.
Jennifer Yuengling, Vice President of Operations at the brewery, says in a statement released Tuesday:
As the 6th Generation of the Yuengling family, we have a 190-year history of listening to our fans and looking for new ways to deliver quality and memorable drinking experiences. We saw a unique opportunity to partner with Hershey’s, a brand known worldwide for its iconic, delicious tasting chocolate, to deliver fans our first-ever beer collaboration. We spent nearly a year developing our Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter and are excited for the world to indulge in the classic taste of Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter blended with the unmistakable taste of Hershey’s chocolate.
Yuengling says the new chocolate beer pairs up nicely with smoked meats, cheese, and desserts.

Reactions to the New Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter Beer
When everyone first heard the news, they probably did a double-take.
Yuengling’s doing what now?
But then the more you think about it, marrying Yuengling Porter with famous Hershey’s chocolate starts to make more sense. Even if you don’t know the first thing about flavor profiles and how beers finish, you can recognize the similarities.
We’re excited to see a local favorite like Yuengling Porter get its moment in the spotlight, even if it’s just a fleeting moment.
And we’re not alone, apparently.
They Like It, Love It, Want Some More of It
Reactions to the news Tuesday got Yuengling and Hershey’s fans ramped up on social media. Even though people around Schuylkill County pretty much take the Yuengling brand for granted, there are millions of people in the company’s distribution ring that can’t seem to get enough.
Yuengling got more than 4,400 comments on its Facebook post announcing the news Tuesday. Most were over the moon about the news.
One person says, “I nominate this porter to be our state beer. Can we make that a thing???”
Someone else echoes our sentiment on it being Porter’s time to shine. They say, “Your Porter is and has always been excellent! Can not wait to taste this!”
And one more for good measure. This person, who got a taste test on the Pottsville brewery tour says, “Got to sample it on a recent tour. Very tasty. The perfect blend!”

Of course, the brewery and the chocolate company have their share of haters and they were out again in force on Tuesday but largely, the new beer news is well received.
