Schuylkill County Fair 2019

Will Kurt Aaron Tame a Lion at the Schuylkill County Fair?

Thursday at the Schuylkill County Fair has a lot of star power.

No, we’re not talking about the Mudflaps Reunion concert (but they do play at 7pm and 9pm on the main stage).

We’re talking about Kurt Aaron! Yes, a weather man.

WNEP’s A Fair Day at the 2019 Schuylkill County Fair

WNEP’s Chief Meteorologist Kurt Aaron will be broadcasting live from the Schuylkill County Fair on Thursday, between 4 and 7 p.m. That means half the county will go to the fair. And the other half will stay at home to see who they see walking around at the fair.

It also means that you’re going to see 3 hours of Kurt Aaron with animals. We’re not sure what’s going on but it seems The News Station’s top weather guy can’t be on camera without an animal lately.

Once a week, Kurt brings on his pet dog, Ranger, to help deliver the forecast. Some people love Ranger and send him gifts. But on Tuesday’s Talkback 16 segment, we heard from a lot of viewers who’ve had their fill of Kurt’s pooch.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Last week, on the very same A Fair Day segment at the Troy Fair, Kurt spent quality time with a goat, a non-boxing kangaroo … and he rode a camel.

The previous week, at the Lycoming County Fair, he broadcast live pig races, among other animal-centric segments.

Kurt Aaron vs. The Lion

So, we looked around at the Thursday itinerary at the Schuylkill County Fair.

He won’t be around early in the day for the 4H/FFA shows and sales in the morning. And he won’t get to participate in Senior Day at the Fair. STS is running routes at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to the Fairgrounds from Union Station in Pottsville.

So, that leaves just one thing for Kurt to do that makes any sense … tame a lion on live television. The Close Encounters of the Exotic Kind is happening on Thursday as it does daily at the Fair. The beast will be on premises and ready to go.

And this really only makes sense. It’s the next logical step for Kurt, having ridden the camel last week and watching his animal-obsessed colleagues raise the bar in the days following.

You had Snedeker harass Punxsutawney Phil on live television:

And we learned Jim Coles has a pet baboon:

It’s all been leading to this, Kurt. This IS your moment!
