The reportedly out-of-shape Schuylkill County man who is accused of burglarizing an East Brunswick Township home, stealing a utility trailer and lawnmower, and had a cache of drugs on him at the time of his arrest, is now facing new charges.
Chad Belsak, 49, appeared for preliminary hearings on the burglary and theft cases on Tuesday morning before Magisterial District Judge AJ Serina.
In one case, in which he’s accused of trying to enter a home through a window, charges against Belsak were amended. Instead of being charged with attempted burglary, he’s now facing attempted criminal trespass. Charges of burglary and receiving stolen property were withdrawn and a charge of making terroristic threats was waived to County court.
In a second case, related to the alleged theft of a utility trailer and lawnmower from local business, all charges were waived to Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
Belsak was also arraigned Tuesday on new charges.
He is now facing felony retail theft charges for an incident that allegedly occurred back in August 2024 at the Dollar General on Summer Valley Rd. in East Brunswick Township.
Belsak is accused of emptying a container of electrolyte powder inside the store and stealing a bird feeder from the front of the store upon his exit.
The total retail value of the items Belsak is accused of stealing is $7.50. Police have filed a felony retail theft charge against Belsak. Despite the low retail value of the items, this would be his fourth such charge.
Belsak was also arraigned on burglary and theft charges related to an incident that allegedly happened on March 14 earlier this year at a local business.
Police say Belsak entered a garage owned by a local business and stole a registration and insurance card from the glove compartment of a farm truck owned by that business. He also allegedly damaged a side mirror of that truck.
