Parts of W. Market and N. Centre streets in Pottsville will close to traffic Tuesday evening for the city’s annual Halloween Parade.
The closures start around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and last until the parade ends. The parade steps off at 7 p.m.
W. Market St. will be closed from 14th St. to N. Centre St., and N. Centre St. will be closed from W. Market St. to Race St. There will be no thru traffic on the route, and parking restrictions on those streets also begin at 4:30 p.m.
Parade units stage at 12th and Market streets from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
Schools, groups, organizations, car clubs, floats, and businesses are welcome to take part, according to the parade flyer, and individuals don’t need to sign up in advance. To sign up, call Charity Bender at 814-715-9299.
Organizers say there will be no throwing of candy along the route and no political advertising.
Kids in costume can get free candy after the parade at the Arch Street lot. Merchants will also hold a safe trick-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m.
The parade is sponsored by the Pottsville Lions Club, Pottsville Rotary, and Pottsville Kiwanis, with support from the Pottsville Business Association and Explore Schuylkill.
