Schuylkill County Man Jailed After His 6-Year-Old Son Was Found Unattended on a Porch Roof

Luc Bin held on 10% of $25K bail

A Schuylkill County man was jailed Friday after police said his 6-year-old child was left home alone Friday and spotted on a porch roof.

German Luc-Bin, 31, of Shenandoah, was charged by Shenandoah Police with one third-degree felony count of endangering the welfare of children.

Police responded to a residence at 15 N. West St. after Schuylkill County 9-1-1 reported a young child on a porch roof. A home health care worker first noticed the child on the roof, police say.

Upon arrival, an officer saw a 6-year-old child at an open, screenless second-floor window directly above the front porch roof, where toys were lying, about 10 feet above the sidewalk.

After officers knocked on the front door and got no answer, an officer climbed a ladder to the roof, where he found toys. The officer entered the home through the open second-floor window after the child said no adults were home with him.

Police say Luc-Bin is the child’s sole parent and was at work at the time of the incident.

Luc-Bin was arraigned Friday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, who set bail at 10% of $25,000. Luc-Bin was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison after failing to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1 before Kilker.
