A Schuylkill County man was jailed last week after police say he entered a Shenandoah home without permission and was found asleep in a rocking chair in the living room.
Norman Flickinger, 74, of Shenandoah, faces one count of criminal trespass, a third-degree felony.
A woman contacted borough police late Wednesday morning (Aug. 19) and reported that Flickinger had entered her home without permission.
The woman told police she was at home the night before and went to bed around 9 p.m., leaving the front door unlocked so her son could get inside when he arrived home.
Her son got home sometime between roughly 12:30 and 1 a.m. and found Flickinger sleeping in a rocking chair in the living room, police say. The son told police he woke Flickinger and yelled at him to leave the residence.
Police took Flickinger into custody without incident around 11 a.m. that morning in the 100 block of N. Main St. He was taken to the Shenandoah police station, where he agreed to speak with an officer, police say.
Flickinger said he entered the home and had been sleeping in the rocking chair, and that the woman’s son woke him up and yelled at him to get out, according to police.
Flickinger was arraigned later that day before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, who set bail at 10% of $10,000. He was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled this Thursday before Kilker.
