Two people – one with bundles of suspected narcotics on them – were discovered in the basement of an abandoned downtown Pottsville building on Wednesday morning, police say.
Police in the city were first called to the 300 block of W. Market St. shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday by a neighboring business owner who reported suspicious noises coming from next door, a building they knew to be abandoned.
During the course of their investigation, officers noticed the rear door to 306 W. Market St. was open so they entered to clear the building. Several years ago, the property housed the Arizona Video store. While clearing the building, police encountered a man and a woman in the basement of the property.
Addison Hummel, 33, of Pottsville, was located in the basement along with Christin Feno, 30, of Pottsville. Neither had permission to be in the building from the property’s owner, MPF Capital.
During a search of Feno, police say they discovered two bundles of 10 glassine baggies, one marked with a devil symbol and another marked with a Playboy symbol. Feno also allegedly had another baggie with a devil symbol on it as well as some marijuana wrapped in foil and a straw that police suspect was used as drug paraphernalia.
Hummel and Feno were both arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley and sent to Schuylkill County Prison. They’re being held on 10% of $10,000 bail.
Each is being charged with a felony count of criminal trespass. Feno is also being charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Monday.
