A Schuylkill County man allegedly threatened to beat the head in of, shoot, and end the life a co-worker at Garfield Square during an argument in the break room of a local scrap yard.
Patrick McGuinness, 34, of Pottsville, is charged with one count of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor, and a summary count of harassment.
The incident happened reportedly happened back on Jan. 21 at Weiner Iron & Metal Corp. in North Manheim Township, police say.
The victim went to the State Police barracks in Schuylkill Haven at a little before 3:30 p.m. that day to report a verbal altercation with McGuinness inside the company break room.
He told police the argument escalated when McGuinness verbally threatened to beat his head in. The victim said he removed himself from the break room to avoid a physical conflict, according to police.
McGuinness then told other co-workers in the break room that he would shoot the victim like he killed someone years ago, police say. Police say McGuinness also told co-workers to tell the victim to meet him at Garfield Square in Pottsville to end his life.
The victim told police he feared for his life because of McGuinness’ history, police say.
On Feb. 17, the operations manager at Weiner Iron & Metal Corp. gave State Police copies of witness statements the company had obtained from co-workers on the day of the argument, police say.
McGuinness is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 29 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek.
