A Schuylkill County man was jailed this week after police say he jumped out of his apartment window onto a roof while they tried to serve an arrest warrant on him.
State Police say when they arrived at an apartment building on N. Union St. in Shenandoah just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 11, they encountered a woman who told them that the subject of the warrant, Joseph Zendrosky, 48, of Shenandoah, had just exited the apartment jumping out a bedroom window onto a nearby roof.
Police say they located Zendrosky on that roof. Troopers say they told him he was under arrest but Zendrosky ignored that and despite several verbal commands, continued to attempt to flee.
Zendrosky then entered the apartment through the bedroom window where police were able to take him into custody. The commotion of the scene caused numerous neighbors to come outside and see what was happening, police say.
Before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley on Tuesday evening, Zendrosky was charged with a felony count of flight to avoid apprehension and misdemeanor counts of evading arrest on foot, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Reiley set bail at 10% of $15,000 in that case.
Zendrosky was also arraigned on another set of charges for an alleged incident in West Mahanoy Township on July 11, which includes felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and a summary count of driving on a suspended license. For that case, Reiley set bail at 10% of $25,000.
