Schuylkill County Man Wanted, Woman Jailed After Alleged Park Assault Left Victim with Brain Bleed

Wiseley wanted by police; Hoffecker held on $50K bail

A Schuylkill County man is wanted on a felony aggravated assault charge and a Schuylkill County woman is jailed on a felony robbery charge after police say he punched a man unconscious at a downtown park in Pottsville and she went through the victim’s wallet as he lay on the pavement.

The victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and a brain bleed, according to police.

Isaiah Wiseley, 21, of Pottsville, is charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct and a summary count of harassment. Police have obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Latanasia Hoffecker, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, is charged with felony robbery, misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking and misdemeanor receiving stolen property.

Police were dispatched to 305 W. Market St. at Discovery Park shortly after 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 for a report of an unresponsive male who had been involved in a fight.

Officers say they arrived and found the victim lying on his back on the ground. He was awake but in and out of consciousness and could not name the man who struck him or provide any information to identify him.

A witness told police the victim and a white, non-Hispanic male wearing gray pants were involved in a verbal altercation and that the man then punched the victim once in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. The witness said the man fled south on 3rd Street, police say.

EMS responded and the victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East for treatment, police say.

Security camera footage reportedly showed the man, later identified as Wiseley, and the victim in a verbal confrontation that escalated into a physical altercation, police say. Wiseley can be seen on the footage punching the victim in the face twice, with the second punch knocking him to the ground. The victim struck the back of his head on the pavement as he fell.

While the victim lay unresponsive, Wiseley picked him up, moved him and dropped him, causing the victim to strike the back of his head on the pavement a second time, police say.

The footage also showed a female, later identified as Hoffecker, manipulating the victim’s wallet along with his cigarette pack while he lay on the ground unresponsive. Two partially empty cigarette packs and loose cigarettes were on the ground at the scene, police say.

Wiseley and Hoffecker fled the area before officers arrived, and the victim’s empty wallet was recovered at the scene, police say.

The victim’s family told police he was possibly missing up to $700 he kept in his cigarette pack. Police made contact with the victim the next day and he confirmed he was missing seven $100 bills he kept in the pack.

The victim was transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest because he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Nursing staff there confirmed he suffered a brain bleed, police say.

Hoffecker was arraigned Aug. 11 before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $50,000. She was unable to post bail and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison. Records indicate she remains incarcerated. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
