A Schuylkill County man told a worker at a Shenandoah smoke shop that he was leaving to get a gun and would come back and shoot him, police say.
Malik Hogan, 29, of Orwigsburg, is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of terroristic threats.
Police say the complaint came in shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, when a man reported that someone had entered the Invictus Lounge Smoke Shop on S. Main St. and threatened to shoot him.
The man told police the male entered the store and walked toward an area that leads behind the counter, according to Officer Mark Hysock. The man said he approached the male and asked him if he needed anything.
The male then became argumentative and told him he was leaving the store to go get a gun and that he was going to come back and shoot him, police say.
The man provided police with security footage showing a male with short blonde hair wearing a black shirt and black and tan shorts.
Hysock said he had seen that same male earlier that morning while on patrol, sitting on the front porch of a home on W. Coal St. After leaving the smoke shop, Hysock went to that address and tried to make contact at the residence. While he was there, a silver Mitsubishi pulled up, driven by the same male, police say.
Hysock said he made contact with the driver and identified him as Hogan.
Hogan was already awaiting a preliminary hearing in a separate case when the alleged threat occurred. He and Noah Forker, 22, of Orwigsburg, were both jailed in July after police say an all-day argument over alleged infidelity escalated into a physical fight over who would sleep with their cat. Hogan is charged with simple assault and harassment in that case, while Forker faces a felony aggravated assault count and related charges. Both are scheduled for preliminary hearings Aug. 11.
Hogan was also the complainant in a third case out of Orwigsburg. Ruthie McMullen, 57, of Orwigsburg, and Ian Tran, 37, of Reading, were charged after a June dispute over a rock flung by a lawnmower escalated into an altercation involving a hurled bucket of urine that Hogan told police was his own, a mop, and homophobic slurs. Both face misdemeanor simple assault and criminal mischief counts and are scheduled for preliminary hearings Aug. 18.
Hogan’s preliminary hearing in the Shenandoah case is scheduled Aug. 27 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.
