Daisy Duke Returns to Schuylkill County This Weekend

Catherine Bach to attend Big Diamond Speedway Friday and Great Pottsville Car Show on Saturday

A television icon and a whole lot of chrome are headed to Pottsville this weekend.

The 2026 Great Pottsville Car Show, hosted by the Pottsville Fire Company No. 1, rolls into town on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 12-5 p.m. at 3rd St. and Laurel Blvd.

Headlining the day is a familiar face for anyone who grew up on Friday night television. Catherine Bach, better known as Daisy Duke from the hit series “The Dukes of Hazzard,” will be on hand throughout the show for meet and greets and photos with fans. Bach is making a return visit to Schuylkill County following her appearance at the show last year.

The show itself is open to all makes and models. Organizers expect classic cars, modern muscle, trucks, and motorcycles to fill the lot, and there is no shortage of reasons to come out even if you are not bringing a vehicle of your own. Food will be available on site.

Trophies will be handed out in ten categories, including Best in Show, Mayor’s Choice, Best 4×4, Best Foreign Car, Best Muscle, Best Street Rod/Rat Rod, Best Original Appearing, Best Engine Compartment, Best Project Car and Best Special Interest.

Fire company officials are billing it as the biggest version of the event yet, and they are asking the community to help make that happen by spreading the word to friends and family.

Bach at Big Diamond Friday Night

Fans who cannot make it Saturday, or who simply want a second look, will get a chance the night before.

Bach will be at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville on Friday, Aug. 7, for a meet and greet before the start of the evening’s races. Jeff Bowers, who brought Bach to the track, will also have his sharp looking replica of the General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger, on display.

The Friday race lineup includes the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds, USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners. General admission is $25, students 10 to 15 are $10 and children under 9 get in free. Pits open at 5 p.m. and grandstands at 5:30 p.m., with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing to follow.
