The last time the Dept. of Environmental Protection held a public hearing with regard to BRADS Landfill in 2024, it was considering whether or not to approve the dump’s permit renewal.
It took a while but eventually, earlier this year, DEP did approval that permit renewal, allowing BRADS to operate along Burma Rd. until 2035.
At that public hearing, DEP took questions and comments from the public and entered them on the record. However, the public only got its first glimpse at the agency’s responses when the permit was renewed. The questions and answers were attached to a file that also contained DEP’s decision to renew the permit for BRADS.

DEP is hosting another public hearing regarding BRADS Landfill, specifically its intent to use trucking as its primary means of hauling leachate away from the site. A pipeline it finally constructed connecting the landfill to the Schuylkill Valley Sewer Authority facility where it ends lacks a deal in place to accept the material from BRADS.
The public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Saint Clair Elementary/Middle School on S. Mill St.
