Schuylkill County Man Accused of Threatening Business Owner Appears in Court

DeAngelo Jr. waives charges to County court.

A Schuylkill County man accused of threatening to shoot a business owner in the head appeared in District Court on Tuesday.

Ralph E. DeAngelo Jr.. 57, of Tamaqua, faces one misdemeanor count of terroristic threats and a summary count of harassment stemming from a May 13 incident. He waived those charges to Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas when he appeared before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer this week.

Police say the victim contacted the department that evening to report the threats. The victim told police Deangelo first called his phone at roughly 2:30 p.m., saying, “they are watching you” and claiming the victim’s associates were driving without commercial driver’s licenses. Police say DeAngelo also accused the victim of stealing trailer hitch pins.

According to police, the victim reported receiving a second call from DeAngelo shortly before 6 p.m.. During that call, Deangelo allegedly told the victim, “if you ever threaten my son, I’ll (BLEEPING) kill you. I will put a bullet in your head.”. Police say DeAngelo also said he would travel to the victim’s house to carry out the threat.

Police say they contacted DeAngelo by phone on May 20 and asked him to come to the station to provide a statement. Police say DeAngelo declined, stating the matter was taken care of because he had already apologized to the victim over the phone while the victim was at the police station.
