Despite a steady drizzle as marchers stepped off Saturday morning in Pottsville, hundreds of people lined the streets of the city to take in the Schuylkill County America250 parade.
The parade was led by dozens of military veterans escorted along the route in vehicles to keep them mostly dry.
For Saturday’s parade, municipalities across Schuylkill County were encouraged to enter floats that symbolize their communities or simply show representation. They were joined by civic organizations, public officials, and local businesses.
Pottsville’s parade was preceded by an All-American picnic and fireworks display on Friday night and followed by a party in the Alvernia University parking lot.
