Schuylkill County Woman Allegedly Punched Driver, Pulled Her Hair During Parking Dispute

Gibbons facing assault, harassment charges

A Schuylkill County woman is facing assault charges after police say she punched a driver through a car window and pulled her hair during a parking dispute.

Samantha Gibbons, 64, of Tamaqua, is charged with second-degree misdemeanor simple assault, along with summary offenses of disorderly conduct and harassment.

Police in Tamaqua say they responded to a bank on W. Broad St. shortly after 11 a.m. on June 15 for a reported assault. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim, who said she was assaulted by a woman who had since left the scene.

The victim told police she was in her vehicle with her mother and two children, waiting for a car to reverse out of a parking spot. Another car pulled up behind the victim’s vehicle, and the driver became impatient, the victim told police.

After the victim told the driver to have some patience, the driver, later identified by police as Gibbons, exited her vehicle, approached the victim, and punched her through the driver’s window, police say.

The victim said she then exited her car, at which point Gibbons continued the assault by pulling her hair. The victim told police the attack caused her substantial pain.

While police were interviewing the victim, Gibbons appeared at the scene, and the victim identified her as the assailant.

When questioned by police, Gibbons admitted to her involvement in the incident. Gibbons told police she walked up to the victim’s car and struck her, and that the physical altercation continued after the victim exited the vehicle. Gibbons reportedly said to police that she initially left the scene because she was shaken up, but returned when she saw the police car.
