Cordes pleaded guilty in 2025

A former Tamaqua Police officer will spend more than 27 years in federal prison on child and animal sex charges.

Christopher Cordes, 31, was sentenced to 330 months in prison on charges of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, attempted receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography, creation of an animal crush video, and production of child pornography.

Cordes previously pleaded guilty in federal court to these charges.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office initially brought charges against Cordes in May 2024. According to charging documents, Cordes used Snapchat to contact minor girls and express sexual interest in children as well as receive child pornography files and created videos of himself engaging in sexual acts with dogs.

Cordes was suspended from the Tamaqua Police Department when the charges were first filed and officially terminated in June 2024.
