3 Homes Burn, 6 Displaced by Fire in Minersville Wednesday

State Police investigating cause

Three homes in Minersville were severely damaged by fire on Wednesday.

At about 11 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a row of homes at N. 4th and North streets in the borough for a working fire. Crews from as far away as Mount Carmel arrived.

In a photo submitted to Coal Region Canary, flames can be seen shooting from 116 N. 4th St., the middle of the three homes (114, 116, and 118) that were severely damaged today.

As of 1:30 p.m., firefighters were still active at the scene.

After flames were knocked down, it was clear that the middle home at 116 N. 4th St. sustained the most damage. But homes on either side of it also were severely damaged.

Danielle Morrow, of American Red Cross, says six people have been displaced by the blaze, two per home. No injuries have been reported.

A State Police Fire Marshal was at the scene to conduct an investigation into the cause of Wednesday’s incident.
