Schuylkill County Man Gets 4-23 Months for Bizarre Series of Lewd, Indecent Acts

A Schuylkill County man was sentenced to 4-23 months in prison Monday after pleading guilty on charges he committed a series of lewd acts that terrorized his neighbor.

Gregory Wheeldon, 64, of Gordon, must spend at least the next four months in Schuylkill County Prison followed by another couple years on supervised release after Judge Christopher Hobbs handed down his sentence in Courtroom 4.

Wheeldon entered a guilty plea on charges of indecent exposure, open lewdness, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

During his sentencing hearing at Schuylkill County Courthouse, the victim of Wheeldon’s actions told Hobbs how her life has been affected since May of last year.

It was a “five-week long nightmare, a five-week long form of terrorism,” she said. “Mr. Wheeldon has taken my peace and tranquility. He robbed me of the comfort of my haven.”

From May 25 through June 26 of 2024, Wheeldon committed numerous lewd acts in his neighborhood, with the windows to his home uncovered and the lights fully on behind him, often in full view of his neighbor.

The victim documented the moments that she says have caused her to suffer medical issues and left her traumatized since last year.

For instance, it all started when Wheeldon was observed in an upstairs window at his home in a red thong with a ball gag in his mouth.

A month after the initial incident, the lewdness escalated, Wheeldon was seen naked in an upstairs window of his home with his naked rear end hanging out of the window. He was also seen putting a stick in his rectum several times.

That same day, Wheeldon was seen masturbating in front of a window. He also mounted a plunger to a door and then backed into it so that its handle would enter him.

The next day, the neighbor said she would hear a coughing sound while she was walking her dog. When she turned around, she would see Wheeldon watching her and masturbating while wearing a black bra and thong.

Police were notified on June 26 about this series of actions and after they were contacted, Wheeldon stopped.

At his hearing, Wheeldon asked Hobbs to show mercy in his sentence.

“I’m ashamed and I’m sorry that we’re here today,” Wheeldon said. “I apologize that we’re here. I didn’t see it coming. I don’t know what else to say.”

Entered into the record was a letter purportedly from Wheeldon’s doctor that tried to explain that medication he’d been prescribed may have caused the lewd behavior.

Hobbs took that into consideration when handing down his sentence but also considered that Wheeldon was convicted on similar charges in Lebanon County in 2019 when he lived there.

“I’m extremely concerned this isn’t the first go-around,” the judge said. “Jail is necessary. It’s absolutely necessary. I don’t see any reason to stray from the (sentencing) guidelines.”

After Hobbs read the sentence, Wheeldon made one last emotional plea to avoid jail time.

“My wife needs me at home,” he said. “The medication made me crazy.”

Hobbs replied, “You plead guilty. You accepted responsibility.”
