A Tamaqua man and Berks County woman are headed back to New York to face murder charges.
Both Sgroilin Santana and Jaslynn Garcia waived their extraditions to New York during a hearing Wednesday morning at Schuylkill County Courthouse. They appeared before Schuylkill County Judge Christopher Hobbs on Wednesday morning via video conference from the local prison.
Santana, 22 of Tamaqua, and Garcia, 19, of Shillington, are accused of killing Jorge Vazquez outside the Extended Stay America hotel in Bethpage, NY, back on April 2.
According to a report from (Rye, NY) Daily Voice, Vazquez had suffered multiple gunshot wounds outside the hotel when police arrived on the scene at 9:40 p.m. back on April 2.Â
Sgroilin and Garcia then fled to Schuylkill County, where they were eventually apprehended last week in Tamaqua.
They are each facing second-degree murder charges when they arrive back in New York.
