A Schuylkill County man is accused of stealing his neighbor’s vehicle and then wrecking it into a tractor-trailer.
According to a report filed by police in Orwigsburg, on April 27, a woman living in an apartment building on W. Market St. in the borough received a call from her neighbor – identified as Samuel Strunk, 27 – saying he was sorry for taking her vehicle.Â
“I’m really sorry. I’ll pay for it,” Strunk reportedly told his neighbor.
Strunk allegedly saw that his neighbor left the keys in her vehicle and he needed to go to the gas station. When he called his neighbor, Strunk had allegedly just crashed his neighbor’s vehicle into a tractor-trailer in front of the Rutter’s store outside Orwigsburg.
The victim in this case reports that the vehicle was totaled in the crash and the damage estimate is about $9,600.
Strunk was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina on April 30. Pollice have charged him with felony theft and receiving stolen property as well as a misdemeanor for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Serina set bail at 10% of $2,500, which hasn’t been posted and Strunk remains at Schuylkill County Prison.
