A Tamaqua man is one of two murder suspects arrested in the borough on Wednesday evening.
According to information released by State Police-Frackville, detectives from Nassau County, NY, contacted State Police on Wednesday regarding a homicide investigation there. Nassau County detectives said they believed two suspects were currently in Tamaqua.
The suspects were identified as Sgroilin Santana, 22, of Tamaqua, and Jaslynn Garcia, 19, of Shillington. Detectives said they believed both suspects were located in the 300 block of W. Spruce St. in Tamaqua.
At about 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Santana and Garcia were taken into custody through work by PSP-Troop L Vice unit, Troopers from the Frackville barracks, Tamaqua Borough Police, and Schuylkill County Detectives.
Santana and Garcia were taken to PSP-Frackville for further investigation by detectives out of Nassau County. Both suspects were wanted on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. They were arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, awaiting extradition to New York.
