Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce and local officials recently helped the owners of Fairlane Diner cut the ribbon to celebrate the grand opening of their restaurant.
Fairlane Diner is located at the Fairlane Village Mall, in the site of the former Friendly’s and, for people of a certain age, Ponderosa Steakhouse.
Owners Ramy Elgendy and Adam Houir bring decades of experience in the restaurant industry to their first venture in Schuylkill County.

Elgendy tells The Canary he opened Five Star Diner in Pottstown back in 1998. In the year 2000, he celebrated becoming an American citizen.
Houir says he’s grown up in the restaurant business. His family owned the Route 61 Diner in Muhlenberg
The diner is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Traditional American food is on the menu. The owners say ice cream and water ice are in the works for this Spring.
