Police are investigating a case of suspected animal cruelty in Coaldale where more than 20 animals were seized, including 17 dogs.
State Police and Coaldale Police executed a search warrant on Monday afternoon at the home of a 69-year-old woman in the eastern Schuylkill County borough.
During their search, police say they found the following animals:
- 17 Great Pyrenees dogs
- 2 cats
- 2 birds
- 1 turtle
Police say the animals were in a severe state of neglect, displaying signs of malnutrition, poor living conditions, and suspected untreated medical conditions.

An investigation into this incident is ongoing, police say. State Police are working with Coaldale Police and the Pennsylvania SPCA to ensure the animals seized during Monday’s search of the property are getting the veterinary care they need.
