National Weather Service has placed Schuylkill County under a Winter Storm Warning for much of the day Saturday.
The Winter Storm Warning extends from 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, until 1 a.m. Sunday, January 7.
Right now, NWS is predicting between 4-8 inches of snow to fall on the warned area, which includes portions of central Pennsylvania, including Schuylkill County.
At its heaviest, snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected, especially in the late-afternoon and evening hours on Saturday.
Travel conditions during the Winter Storm Warning are expected to be very difficult. PennDOT urges motorists to use extreme caution if travel is necessary during the storm and to heed all driving restrictions, including reduced speed limits.
Roadway conditions are available through PennDOT at 511pa.com or by calling 5-1-1.
