Robert C. “Bob” McGuigan, 93, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday, June 27th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville on June 7, 1930, he was a son of the late Clyde & Estella (Carter) McGuigan.
He shared 61 years of marriage with his wife, Carol Lynn (Mueller) McGuigan, who survives him.
Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pottsville.
He was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville High School, where he played football and basketball.
He served in the U.S. Navy, and had been a co-owner of Shollenberger & McGuigan Contracting for over 50 years. He was a cabinetry teacher for South Schuylkill Vo-Tech night school for 23 years.
He was a councilman for the Mechanicsville Borough for eight years. He was inducted in the Schuylkill Chapter of the Allen Rogowicz Hall of Fame.
Bob served in many official capacities for Pottsville Midget Football.
He enjoyed HO Trains.
In addition to his wife, Bob is also survived by two daughters: Susan C. McGuigan & Sandra L. O’Brien, and two grandchildren: Casey Corches, & Andrew Colna.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 6th at First United Methodist Church, Pottsville with Rev. John Wallace officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
Private interment will be held at a later date.
The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions in Bob’s memory to First United Methodist Church, 330 W. Market St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
