Schuylkill County Men Seriously Injured in Route 61 Crash Friday

Both drivers were taken by helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Two Schuylkill County men were seriously injured in a vehicle crash on Route 61 Friday afternoon.

According to information released by State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Route 61, west of Cinema Blvd., in West Brunswick Twp.

Police say a vehicle driven by Joseph Pierre, of Pottsville, was traveling north on Route 61. Pierre was behind another vehicle driven by Ethan Green, 19, of Orwigsburg.

As Green was attempting to make a left turn off the highway into a shopping center along Route 61, his vehicle was rear-ended by Pierre’s. Police say Pierre failed to yield to Green at the time of the crash.

The impact moved the vehicles facing north in the southbound lanes of the highway.

Green and Pierre had to be rushed from the scene and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by medical helicopter.
