David E. “Pop” Eckert, 79 – Loving Husband

David E. “Pop” Eckert, 79, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, January 20th, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

Born in Pottsville, PA on December 5, 1941, he a son of the late Harry & Marion (Brennan) Eckert.

He was the husband of Joann (James) Eckert. The couple celebrated 55 years on marriage on January 8th.

He was employed as a welding instructor by Dana Corporation for 34 years.

In addition to his parents, David is also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Eckert Schuster and siblings: Harry, Raymond, Ronald, & Robert Eckert, Janice Webber, and Joanne Nagle.

David “Pop” was always there for everyone to provide support and advice, especially about cars. He was a loving husband; and a great father, grandfather, brother, & uncle. He also enjoyed working around the house and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four daughters: Michele, companion of Loren Sturchio, of Port Carbon; Kristine Thomas, of Pottsville; Kathy Doran, of Pottsville; Kelly Eckert, of Pottsville; two sons: David, husband of Margaret Eckert, of Pottsville; and Robert Eckert, of New Philadelphia. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jason (Amanda) Schuster, Michael (Nina) Schuster, David (Jennifer) Schuster, Brian, Jennifer, Michael, John, & Angela Eckert, LeighAnn Thomas, Keith (Bonnie) Thomas, Cody Thomas, Joseph Moran, Tiffany Doran, Samantha Poda, & Olivia Eckert, great-grandchildren: Ariana, Reagan, Nolan, Skyler, Seth, Isabella, Olivia, Tucker; two sisters, Nancy Neubling, of Maryland; and Darlene Faust, of Auburn, a brother, Clarence Eckert, of Pottsville; his best buddy Walker, and many nieces & nephews.

Services & interment will be privately held at the family’s convenience.
