An overnight crash along Route 209 in Reilly Township claimed the lives of two young adults from Pottsville.
State Police in Schuylkill Haven reported Saturday (Oct. 17) that 21-year-old Michael Truscott and 18-year-old Dayla Austerberry sustained fatal injuries in the crash that happened around 3:30 a.m. this morning.
According to the information made public, Truscott was driving northbound on Route 209 in Reilly Township at a high rate of speed. He apparently lost control of the vehicle and hit a berm. That caused his vehicle to roll over and hit a pair of trees.
Upon impact, Austerberry was ejected from the vehicle and killed. Truscott also died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash, according to police.
Emergency crews from Minersville, Newtown, Branchdale, and Tremont assisted State Police at the scene.
