Police are searching for a Saint Clair man they believe strangled a woman last week during a domestic fight.
State Police in Frackville say a warrant has been issued for Christopher Achenbach, 40, following an incident during the early morning hours of Aug. 28.
Saint Clair Man Wanted in Strangulation Case
Achenbach was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute at about 1 a.m. Friday morning.
Police say they were called to the scene at Broad St. in New Castle Township for a report of an active domestic fight. When police arrived at the scene about about 1:30 a.m., the alleged victim of this fight told police that Achenbach grabbed her by the throat.
He then picked the woman up by the neck and tried to suffocate her.
The woman said she was gasping for air and couldn’t breathe. That’s when Achenbach threw her to the floor of the bedroom. She eventually got away and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 9-1-1.
Achenbach fled the scene before police arrived.
He faces a felony strangulation, misdemeanor assault and summary harassment charges when he’s eventually arrested.
