How Many Times Has 4-6-2 Been the Winning PA Lottery Daily Number?

Everyone’s got their favorite lottery numbers.

Even if you don’t play the PA Lottery every day or hardly at all, if you were to pick 3 numbers for the daily drawing, you know what you’d pick.

We’re guessing a lot of people in a certain area of Schuylkill County probably play 4-6-2 daily. For whatever reason, people at one time picked their home phone exchange as their favorite lottery number. We suppose it’s because the amount of numbers was the same. And there was a time when people actually remembered their phone numbers.

No one took or takes more pride in their phone exchange – the three numbers after your area code (570) — than the people of Shenandoah, of course. So, we figure this has to be one of the most played PA Lottery numbers in Schuylkill County.

Thanks to a handy search tool at the PA Lottery website, we were able to determine how often 4-6-2 comes up in the PICK 3 drawing.

If you haven’t played the PA Lottery in a while, you may remember this as The Daily Number. It was that and Big 4 and then the big Pennsylvania Lotto game.

Now, there are a half-million drawings every day, at least it seems. But we’re purists and limited our search to the classic Daily Number or PICK 3 drawing.

And we didn’t look for the daytime drawing, either. We just looked for the times 4-6-2 was the winning number in the Evening Drawing of the PICK 3.

Boxing it doesn’t count. And no Wild ball numbers, either.

We’re playing it straight …

If we are, we aren’t winning much.

4-6-2 was the winning PA Lottery number a total of 14 times. That includes The Daily Number and PICK 3 drawings.

The first time 4-6-2 hit on The Daily Number was way back on Aug. 30, 1977. It last hit on Dec. 17, 2019. It’s only hit 4 times since the year 2000, too.

The Daily Number first debuted earlier that year in 1977 on March 1. There are no indications The Daily Number hasn’t happened every day since then. So, if that’s true, there have been more than 15,500 Daily Number or Pick 3 evening drawings.

That means 4-6-2 only comes up straight about once every 1,100 drawings. It should be noted, even though we’re only playing it straight, 4-6-2 did come up 99 times in some combination since the beginning of The Daily Number drawing.

Lucky Schuylkill County Pick 3 or Daily Number Numbers

If 4-6-2 is as popular as we suspect, it’s likely people all over Schuylkill County do the same. So, how often does your favorite number come up (if you use your home phone exchange … if you have a home phone)?

Girardville (276)

Play it straight: The phone exchange for Guntown has come up 12 times in The Daily Number/PICK 3. The first time it happened was on June 9, 1977. The last time it happened was Jan. 26, 2019.

Box it: Overall, this combo has come up 87 times.

New Philadelphia (277)

Play it straight: Playing your number straight if you’re from New Philly isn’t a lucky play, that’s for sure. It’s hit 14 times. The first time was way back on Jan. 21, 1978. The last time it came up was May 8, 2016.

Box it: Some combo of the New Philly phone exchange came up 52 times since the dawn of The Daily Number.

Pine Grove (345)

Play it straight: Pine Grove’s lucky number likely is a lot of people’s lucky number. But it’s only hit 11 times since the beginning of The Daily Number. Amazingly, it came up 4 times in 2010! The last time it hit was on Dec. 30, 2018. It first came up on Sept. 26, 1987. Talk about some frustrated Pine Grove lotto players. That’s more than 10 years of waiting for it to come up.

Box it: The Pine Grove area’s phone exchange has come up boxed 95 times in The Daily Number or PICK 3.

Orwigsburg (366)

Play it straight: The first time this hit straight was back on April 15, 1977. Last time it happened was on Jan. 4, 2017. However, it’s come up 17 times since the beginning of the drawing. That’s more than most on this list but …

Box it: Orwigsburg’s exchange has only come up in any way, shape, or form a total of 33 times.

Schuylkill Haven (385)

Play it straight: Easily, one of the luckiest numbers in Schuylkill County. It’s hit 23 times since The Daily Number started. The last time it hit was on Nov. 22, 2019. First time it happened was back on Jan. 6, 1979. It came up 3 times in 2011 and 3 times in 1988.

Box it: Haven’s lucky number has come up in box form a total of 88 times.

Saint Clair (429)

Play it straight: Middle of the road result for Saint Clair’s lucky play. It’s hit 14 times in the history of The Daily Number. The last time it hit was on July 13, 2019. It didn’t hit for the first time until Dec. 3, 1984.

Box it: Saint Clair’s big number has come up boxed a total of 76 times.

Shenandoah (462)

Play it straight: Overall, this is a middle-of-road play just like Saint Clair. It hit 14 times. The last time was on Dec. 17, 2019 and the first time was Aug. 30, 1977.

Box it: It’s one of the luckier local combos for a box play, though. Remember, it’s come up in some form a total of 99 times.

Minersville (544)

Play it straight: Minersville players are waiting for their lucky number to break into double-digits. It’s only hit straight 9 times. First time was on Jan. 11, 1984 and the last time was May 30, 2012. Sounds like it’s due!

Box it: We have a feeling a lot of people in Minersville play this combo. But it’s only hit 32 times. We’d like to thank the people of Minersville who haven’t won with this combo. At least they’re benefitting older Pennsylvanians.

Pottsville (622)

Play it straight: The most popular Pottsville phone exchange has only hit straight 12 times. The first time was on Aug. 25, 1980. Last time was June 30, 2017.

Box it: We know a handful of people who play this exchange boxed. Now, we know they’ve spent a lot of time losing a buck a day. It’s only hit 40 times.

Pottsville (628)

Play it straight: First time this lucky number hit straight was Dec. 29, 1983. Last time these numbers got picked in order was Oct. 27, 2018. Overall, it’s hit straight 13 times. It came up 3 times between Oct. 24, 2007 and April 13, 2008.

Box it: The other exchange in the big city has come up boxed a total of 88 times.

Tamaqua (668)

Play it straight: One of the luckiest straight picks in the coal region. Tamaqua’s 6-6-8 has been drawn in order 19 times. It last got picked on April 6, 2917. The first time it got drawn in order was way back on Jan. 31, 1979.

Box it: If you boxed Tamaqua’s phone exchange, your winnings have been slim. It’s only been picked 55 times.

Hegins (682)

Play it straight: This is one of the luckier numbers in the coal region. It’s hit straight 15 times since the beginning of The Daily Number drawings. The combo first hit back on Oct. 22, 1980, and it last came up on July 16, 2018. It’s a streaky number, too. 6-8-2 came up 3 times in 1985 and another 3 times between April 1993 and January 1994.

Box it: Just like Pottsville’s alternate exchange, the Hegins lucky numbers have come up 88 times.

Tremont (695)

Play it straight: Easily, the strangest lucky number in Schuylkill County. For starters, it’s hit straight 18 times since the beginning. First time was way back on Dec. 13, 1977. The last time was on July 12, 2019. But check out some of these wild facts about the 6-9-5 PA Lottery combo:

• It hit 3 times between December 2009 and May 2010.
• Prior to it hitting in December 2007, it hadn’t been drawn since January 1994 — almost 14 years!
• It hit 3 times in 218 days, between Sept. 16, 1981 and Feb. 11, 1982 — WOW! That includes it coming twice in 3 days … Feb. 9 and Feb. 11, 1982 — DOUBLE WOW!
• Overall, it hit 3 times in 1982.

Box it: Some combo of 6-9-5 has won 87 times overall.

Mahanoy City (773)

Play it straight: This has been a steady play over time. Mahanoy City’s lucky number has come up 14 times in the history of The Daily Number/PICK 3 drawing. First time was back on Oct. 12, 1981. The last time it hit was on May 14, 2016

Box it: Not so lucky 7s, here. The combo boxed has only won 48 times.

Frackville (874)

Play it straight: This play only came up twice in the first 10 years of the drawing. First time was on May 18, 1982. The most recent time was a couple weeks ago, on Jan. 14, 2020. Overall, it’s come up straight 14 times in the history of The Daily Number.

Box it: This combo has come up boxed 3 times already in 2020’s evening drawings. Overall, it’s come up 95 times.

Ashland (875)

Play it straight: It took almost 8 years for 8-7-5 to get drawn. The first time was on Jan. 14, 1985. It hasn’t been drawn since Jan. 30, 2012. Talk about being due! In the history of The Daily Number, it’s only been picked 13 times and it’s been a streaky history.

It got picked 3 times between June 3, 2011, and Jan. 30, 2012, the last time it got called. There was also a time in 1992 that it got picked twice in 7 days (Oct. 24 and Oct. 31).

Box it: This is another relatively popular box combo. It’s been drawn 93 times.

McAdoo (929)

Play it straight: McAdoo’s lucky combo has been drawn 16 times. But would you believe that 9-2-9 is actually the first winning The Daily Number selected. It happened on March 1, 1977. The last time it happened was on Feb. 24, 2013.

Box it: This combo, with a pair of 9s, has only been picked 49 times in box form.
