Long-time radio DJ at T102 in Pottsville, known as RC, is off-the-air.
According to a since deleted Facebook post over the holiday weekend, RC (real name is Chad Gerber) posted something to the effect that he just did the hardest thing he ever had to do in his life.
And not only did “RC” delete that Facebook post, he deleted or removed his entire Facebook account. But before he did, he indicated that he no longer worked at the radio station, which triggered one of those “left his job” posts that Facebook creates when you change a profile status.
On the T102 radio website, all mentions of RC have been removed. His profile no longer appears as an on-air personality and there’s a gap in the program schedule.
The station even removed his face from the T102 Fan Page on Facebook. They replaced a photo of him, Courtney Roberts, and Dave Smith with a generic station logo.
In addition to his on-air talent role at T-102, Gerber served as Program Director.
No reasons are known for this staffing change at the radio station.
RC Out at T102 Radio
RC was on the air at T-102 dating back to the 1990s. You could barely go 10 minutes without hearing his voice on that station. Either it was his numerous shows, most notably the “5 O’clock Somewhere Show”, or the many voice-overs he provided for local ads.
RC brought a unique energy to his job, especially when promoting local businesses.
Even if you haven’t listened to T102 radio as much in the past few years, you’d expect to hear RC’s voice when you did tune in. It’s going to be weird not hearing him.
So, what’s next for RC?
Gerber did indicate that something is in his future before he shut down his Facebook.
He currently sits on Coaldale Borough Council and is running to hold that seat in the November election.
Perhaps he’s got a future on local TV now? In February, he appeared on PA Live on WBRE-TV. And he left us with this gem in which he doesn’t read the prompter right and says “memm” instead of “meme” …
