Reggie Crawford Promoted to Triple-A, Blankenhorn Homers Twice

Here is a weekly update on Schuylkill County natives with Major League organizations.

Here is our weekly roundup of Schuylkill County players currently playing with Major League Baseball organizations in the 2024 season.

Reggie Crawford (North Schuylkill) – Pitcher, Sacramento River Cats

Crawford is quickly moving up the ranks of the San Francisco Giants organization. On Tuesday (May 14), the North Schuylkill grad was promoted from the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the Eastern League to Triple-A Sacramento River Cats.

Last week, Crawford appeared in relief in two games against the Erie SeaWolves.

During his May 7 appearance, Crawford threw 1.2 innings. He did hit 2 batters but struck out 4 against just 1 walk.

His appearance on May 11 didn’t go as well but that obviously didn’t slow his progression through the Giants farm system. In that game, Crawford completed 1 inning, allowing 2 hits and 3 earned runs. He did whiff 3 batters.

For the season, Crawford is 1-1 on the mound with a 4.66 ERA. He’s appeared in 7 games, pitching 9.2 innings. He’s struck out 19 batters of the 29 outs he’s recorded.

Travis Blankenhorn (Pottsville Area) – Outfield, Rochester Red Wings

Last week in games at the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Railriders, Blankenhorn added 2 more home runs to his growing 2024 tally. He’s now up to 11 home runs on the season, good for second in the International League.

Going 4-for-22 at the plate last week did, however, drop his season average to .266.

For the year, Blankenhorn is hitting .266 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI.

Joe Nahas (Marian Catholic) – Pitcher, South Bend Cubs

Nahas made his 2024 debut with Double-A Tennessee Smokies last Wednesday. It’s a relief appearance he’s just assume forget, however.

In 3 innings of work, the Marian Catholic grad allowed 4 hits and 3 runs (all earned) to the Charlotte Knights. Over those 3 innings, Nahas did strike out 4 batters.

In the first game of the Smokies series this week against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, Nahas pitched 2 innings and allowed a solo home run. He did, however, record 3 Ks.

In the 2024 season, Nahas has appeared in a total of 7 games and 14.1 innings between South Bend and Tennessee. He’s got 2 saves. Nahas has 15 Ks.
