PennDOT Scheduled Work in Schuylkill County Starting Monday

Projects on I-81 and Route 61 to begin this week

Motorists traveling through Schuylkill County will face daytime lane restrictions and closures on Interstate 81 and Route 61 starting Monday as road crews perform maintenance operations across several municipalities.

Scheduled work includes milling, paving, drainage repair, and brush cutting. Rain will not delay any of the scheduled projects.

The breakdown of upcoming work includes:

  • I-81 South (Frackville): Crews will be milling and paving between Exit 112 (PA 25) and Exit 119 (Highridge Park Road) from July 27-29. A southbound lane restriction will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • I-81 North (Cass and Foster Townships): Ongoing milling and paving between Exit 112 and Exit 119 will force a right lane closure through July 30. Restrictions remain in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • I-81 North (West Mahanoy, Ryan, and Kline Townships): Workers will perform brush cutting between Exit 119 (Highridge Park Road) and Exit 138 (PA 309) from July 27-30. A northbound lane restriction will be active daily from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Route 61 (Butler Township): Drainage maintenance between Academy Drive and Malones Road will require lane shifting from July 27-31. Work will take place daily from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
