A Schuylkill County man remains jailed today after police say he threatened to kill his landlord.
According to court documents filed by police in Tamaqua, the incident happened on Wednesday night in the borough.
Earlier that night, a caller told police that Wall was at a home on Bowe St. with a handgun and threatening to kill the building’s owner because he was going to sell it.
Police arrived on the scene and saw Corey Wall, 32, was attempting to get into a vehicle and flee the scene to which they were responding. Wall was seen putting a green bookbag in the vehicle.
They reportedly asked Wall if it was him and his actions to which they were responding. Wall reportedly said, “No, not at all,” and that he “had no idea” what was happening or why police were there.
Police suspected otherwise and Wall started walking south on Bowe St., away from the scene. Wall was reportedly given verbal commands to stop walking away and that’s when police say he ran. Police gave pursuit on foot.
Eventually, Wall stopped temporarily and with police in pursuit, he reaching his left hand into a pants pocket. Police say they told him to remove his hand from his pocket and Wall refused to do so. A warning was allegedly given that police were going to tase Wall and they did, hitting him with a five-second burst. That caused Wall to fall to the ground where police were able to cuff him.
While cuffed, police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol on Wall. Wall reportedly told police he’d drunk an entire bottle of liquor that night. Police also soon learned that Wall was a fugitive. When asked about the gun he was allegedly using to make threats, Wall said that it was a BB gun.
Speaking to a witness of this incident, police say they also learned that Wall earlier that night had started to pound on things inside his house.
‘Police also say that on the night of the 22nd, they learned that the owner of the building where Wall lived was planning to sell. The owner told police that Wall said to him, “I will blow your head off.”
During a search of Wall’s would-be getaway vehicle, a green bookbag was discovered and believed to be his. Inside the bag, police say they found a Sport 331 BB gun.
Wall was arraigned early Thursday morning before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley, who remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $20,000 bail, which has yet to be posted, according to court documents.
At a preliminary hearing scheduled for early February, Wall will have to answer to charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, disorderly conduct, and filing false reports with police.
