A Schuylkill County man was jailed recently following a domestic disturbance during which he allegedly pistol-whipped his victim.
State Police-Schuylkill Haven were dispatched to a home in Branch Township just after 11 p.m. on Jan. 9. There, a Trooper made contact with the victim. She told police that she and her attacker were in a verbal argument.
During that verbal argument, James Reed III, 39, allegedly grabbed a pistol, pointed it at her and then struck her in the face with the front of the barrel, police say.
The victim told police that authorities were at the same residence earlier that night also for a domestic dispute.
Police searched for Reed but initially had no luck in finding him. He was arrested and arraigned the next day before District Magistrate Judge David Rossi, who remanded him to Schuyllkill County Prison on $25,000 bail.
Reed posted bail on Jan. 13. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 30. That’s where he’ll answer to charges of aggravated assault, a first-degree felony, reckless endangerment and simple assault, both second-degree misdemeanors, and a summary offense of harassment.
