Schuylkill County Woman Charged After Allegedly Stealing Drink, Punching Store Manager in the Face

Suspect threw manager’s phone and then fled the scene

A Schuylkill County woman is facing several charges following an incident earlier this week during which she allegedly stole a drink from a convenience store and then punched the store’s manager in the face.

According to court documents filed by police in Mahanoy City, this incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Cocoa Hut store. When police arrived at the store, they spoke with the store’s manager who said two women entered the store and went to a drink cooler.

Both women put the drinks in bags and left the store without paying. As they left the store, the manager said, one of the women – identified as Ebony Robertson, 32, of Frackville, raised her fists at the manager as he approached them. The manager also reached for his phone to call police.

That’s when Robertson allegedly punched the manager in the face, striking him on the left cheek. She also picked up the phone that he dropped after getting hit and threw it across the parking lot of the store.

Police say they reviewed video surveillance footage and saw the events unfold as the manager said.

Robertson got into a white Lincoln SUV and another woman allegedly involved in the incident, Rhakeira Williams, walked away from the scene.

Williams has been charged with a summary offense for retail theft. Robertson is facing more serious charges, including a second-degree felony for robbery and misdemeanors for receiving stolen property, simple assault, and obstruction, along with several summary offenses.
