A woman is in critical condition following a vehicle crash in Minersville on Friday morning.
According to Minersville Police Chief Jeffrey Bowers, the crash happened at about 9 a.m. at the intersection of Sunbury Rd. and River St.
At that time, a pickup truck was headed west on the Seltzer Highway, approaching a small bus owned by Geisinger Health.
Bowers says the truck failed to stop and collided with the bus at a high rate of speed, pushing the bus about 22 feet into the intersection.
An 85-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the truck was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Geisinger Hospital-Danville, where she’s listed in critical condition and undergoing surgery.
The driver of the pickup, an 86-year-old man, suffered moderate injuries, Bowers says.
In new information released to The Canary, there was a passenger aboard the Geisinger bus, who was attended to and removed from the vehicle by Geisinger employees, while first responders were working to remove the woman from the pickup truck.
Neither the bus driver or its passenger are believed to have been injured, according to police.
