As people walked in the door at the Pottsville Free Public Library on Friday afternoon, many were greeted by a tiny but boisterous meow.
That was the not-so-shy Stoney, a 4-month-old gray and white kitten who is just one of the 175 cats up for adoption at Hillside SPCA right now.
Stoney is one of four of the most well-behaved cats who came along for a meet-and-greet at the library on Friday, which played host to the event organized by the shelter.
He was joined by Playful, Jo Jo, and Stormy at the meet-and-greet.
The meet-and-greet allowed library visitors a chance to meet some of the cats currently up for adoption at Hillside. The shelter is looking to find these cats their new homes right now because it’s essentially at capacity.
“It’s hard right now with it being kitten season,” explains Stephanie Schafer-Smith, a part-time employee, volunteer, and member of the fundraising committee at Hillside.
To inquire about taking one of these cats home, contact Hillside SPCA at 570-622-7769.
UPCOMING EVENT: Hillside SPCA is hosting a Strut Your Mutt Charity Walk on June 29 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Minersville Area Lions Club Pavilion. See the flyer below for more information.
